Using hot burnishing we produce a smooth, deep black and dimensionally stable corrosion prevention on ferrous items. On the surface of such treated workpieces so called black oxide layers are formed by immersion in oxidising solutions. This process provides a mild and temporarily increased corrosion resistance on ferrous materials. Furthermore the resulting black finish adds a high-quality visual appeal. The surface protection can be significantly improved by additional application of appropriate corrosion preventives such as anti-corrosive oils, lubes or waxes.



Besides its cost efectiveness enhanced resistance to abrasion and bending are further benefits of this coating technology. Because of layer thicknesses up to 1 µm an optimal accuracy of dimension is guaranteed.

Blackening of stainless steel

For the blackening of stainless steel the usual burnishing chemicals are not applicable. Therefore we use a procedure especially adapted for this material.

In the hot burnishing process a chemical reaction creates regular deep black surfaces on stainless steel workpieces while retaining the item-specific surface texture.


The resulting oxide film is resistant to abrasion and bending. Electrical conductivity and magnetical characteristics are not affected. 

Because of layer thicknesses up to 1 µm an optimal accuracy of dimension is guaranteed.
